How Public School Stats handles information when you visit this site or contact us. This site publishes statistics about institutions; it does not collect data about students.
Information we collect
We collect the minimum needed to run a website. Our servers log standard request data (page requested, date and time, browser type, and an IP address) for security and traffic measurement. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you submit, and we use them only to read and reply to your message. We do not ask for, and you should not send, personal information about students or any other third party; unsolicited personal information is deleted.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate readership — which pages are visited, roughly where readers are located, and how they found the site. Analytics data are aggregated and are not used to identify individual visitors. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device for this purpose; you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site remains fully readable with cookies blocked.
Advertising and cookies
This site displays advertising served by Google and its partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. Retention and your choices
Server logs are retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting and are then deleted or anonymized. Contact-form messages are retained only as long as needed to handle the correspondence and any correction that follows from it. You may ask us to delete a message you sent by contacting us from the same email address. For analytics and advertising cookies, your choices are exercised through your browser settings and the opt-out pages named above; declining cookies does not limit your access to any statistic on this site, and no account or registration exists to delete because we offer none.
Children
This site is a statistical reference for adults researching schools; it is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children. The underlying statistics are institutional aggregates published by the US Department of Education and contain no individual student records.
